Coronation! [SOME]

In a brief correspondence with Sure Dividend about the departure of KVUE from the list of Dividend Kings, I was informed that the CEO of a company thought to have a 26-year dividend increase streak announced a remarkable 63-year streak in the firm’s 2025 annual report. This can happen in the world of over-the-counter (OTC) stocks, where dividend histories are often less transparent and corporate achievements can remain hidden in plain sight.

Hidden in plain sight may be the perfect way to describe this Pennsylvania financial institution. Founded in 1889, it has accomplished something increasingly rare in modern banking: remaining independent while passing through six generations of the same founding family. From a small-town bank with humble beginnings, it evolved into a successful regional franchise, blending steady growth with a commitment to the communities and traditions that have defined it for well over a century.

All hail Somerset Trust Holding Co!

According to Schwab:

Somerset Trust Holding Company operates as the bank holding company for Somerset Trust Company that provides banking products and services in Pennsylvania. The company offers checking, savings, business, and individual retirement accounts, as well as certificates of deposit; debit and credit cards; and residential and commercial real estate, commercial, consumer, agricultural, mortgage, personal, secured and unsecured, business, and home equity loans. It also provides financial, retirement, and estate planning services; investment products, such as mutual funds and tax deferred annuities; life and long-term care insurance products; trust and investment management services; and online banking and business services. Somerset Trust Holding Company was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Somerset Trust Holding Company [SOME] becomes the 7th Dividend King from the Financials sector and the 60th King overall. Below is a list of all the Kings in the sector and the sub-industry in which they conduct their business.

The Portfolio for the Ages began with FMCB and it remains the representative from this sector in the Portfolio. FMCB has returned 14.7% per annum. But that would not preclude us from adding another at some point in the future – and any of the companies above would be worthy additions at the right price point.

SOME has been on a tear for over two years and still trades at a PE Ratio of 7.5. As absurd as that sounds though, I wouldn’t expect to see it go much further. This appears to be an above average PE Ratio level for the stock. I chalk this up to the illiquidity that comes with trading OTC.

This was a pleasant surprise given we just lost a Dividend King in KVUE.
